I've had too many approaches to the back of the boat to fall for that trap.


It's why I can't imagine they didn't realize their issue falling below glide slope without the engines spooling back up until it was too late. Once I was approaching glideslope and didn't hear the engines spooling up, by reflex I would be pushing the throttles forward. Once I saw the air speed was too slow, would have shoved the throttle into the firewall!

Now I think the airport's ILS was offline at the time, but it was in daylight, and the weather was perfect. They should have a pretty darn good idea what the proper glide slope should look like.

I put 99% on pilot error. Now if it was either night time or inclimate weather, would give the autopilot a much higher percentage, but they wouldn't be landing without either an operable ILS or GPS landing aid.
